Profile

Sociologist and economist, specializing in research on migration, human capital (formal and informal, including social skills), social remittances, social mobility and careers.

She is Director of the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School at SWPS University (300 doctoral students, 4 disciplines, 4 doctoral paths) and Leader of the Mobility Research Group, which is currently collaborating on an international Horizon 2020 research project MIMY and beginning a research and social impact program on Return mobility. Her other research projects include "Peer Groups and Migration" (SONATA BIS 5, NCN grant) and "CEEYouth" (DAINA 1, NCN grant).

In 2015, she established the Youth Research Center and was its Head until September 2019. From 2002 to 2019, she was collaborating Research Fellow at the Centre of Migration Research, at the University of Warsaw. She was a member of the Executive Board and Board of Directors of the IMISCOE Research Network, an international research network of 36 member institutes and over 500 scholars from all over Europe. Former national expert of the European Commission ESCO classification of European Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations and the European Mobility Partnership.

Author of numerous articles in high impact factor journals, such as Work, Employment and Society, Journal of Ethnic Studies, Europe-Asia Studies, and International Migration as well as books, incluidng Movers and Stayers: Migration, Mobility and Skills (Lang 2016); co-author of research monographs, such as The Impact of Migration on Poland: EU Mobility and Social Change (with White, Kaczmarczyk and Slany, UCL Press 2018) and Migrants as Agents of Change (with Garapich, Jazwinska and Radziwinowiczowna, Palgrave Macmillan 2017); co-editor of Mobility in Transition. Migration Patterns After EU Enlargement (Amsterdam University Press 2013).

At SWPS University, she lectures on careers, life-long learning, work, puzzled society, interdisciplinary research, evaluation methods, and quality of work and life.
