We are very happy to announce that for the second time in a row, SWPS University was recognized for its contribution to the visibility of Polish science around the world with the Elsevier Research Impact Leaders Award! This prestigious award recognizes the contribution of our researchers to the international body of knowledge through publications in renowned scientific journals.
The Award Gala took place at the beginning of December, during the “Polish universities in the global perspective. Rankings and strategic university management” conference, organized by the Perspektywy Educational Foundation.
One of our strategic goals is to actively participate in international research exchange and be a leading university in social sciences and humanities. The Elsevier Research Impact Leaders Award confirms that we are actively pursuing this goal.

Elsevier Research Impact Leaders Awards
The ELSEVIER Research Impact Leaders Award recognizes higher education institutions whose latest scientific publications (2016-2018) have had the greatest visibility impact globally. The award promotes high quality research projects and their internationalization.
The impact is measured by the number of publications in prestigious scientific journals, the contribution of international collaborators in the publications and the number of citations in a given discipline.
The aim of the ELSEVIER Research Impact Leaders Award, which is part of a global Elsevier initiative and was given for the first time in 2016, is the promotion of research and development of science. The award recognizes outstanding research institutions that have the largest impact on research and improve the visibility of Polish science around the world.
Elsevier is a global information analytics business that helps institutions and professionals advance healthcare, open science and improve performance for the benefit of humanity.
There are six award categories, including: Life Sciences/Agricultural Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Humanities, Medical Sciences, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences.
Elsevier Research Impact Leaders Awards for SWPS University
SWPS University received the award in the Humanities category.
The winner in the Humanities category maintains a high level of international cooperation, measured by a number of articles published in collaboration with scientists from other countries. Research in this discipline includes projects such as teaching methodology, psychology, decision making or linguistics. The winner’s citation rate was over 50% higher than the rate of other competitors.
There are over 2,000 publications authored by over 500 SWPS University researchers, in the Scopus database.
According to SciVal, our international collaboration rate is 47%, with 20% publications in top journals, and a 2.5 citations per publication rate.
Other nominees in this category included the University of Gdańsk, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and the University of Wrocław.
