We are very happy to announce that for the third consecutive year SWPS University was recognized with the Elsevier Research Impact Leaders Award in the Humanities category for its contribution to international research. This prestigious award confirms the high standing of our university and the quality of scientific publications authored by our scholars. The Award Gala took place on July 15th at the 5th edition of the “Polskie uczelnie w światowej perspektywie. Rankingi a strategiczne zarządzanie szkołą wyższą” (Polish universities in the global perspective. Rankings and strategic university management) Conference, organized by the Perspektywy Educational Foundation. Congratulations!
SWPS University received the Elsevier award in the Humanities category, which includes areas such as teaching methodology, psychology and linguistics. Since the previous award edition, the number of publications by SWPS University’s scholars has increased by 30 percent, while the number of authors by 10 percent. Moreover, our publications enjoyed a higher citation index than other articles in the same disciplines. Our international cooperation index has reached 40 percent, and 20 percent of the articles by SWPS University’s researchers have been published in the most renowned journals.
The Scopus database includes close to 2,700 publications authored by 682 researchers form SWPS University, of which 23% was published in the highly ranked journals, and 12% are among the most cited publications in the world. According to SciVal, 48.8% of publications co-authored by our scholars was published in collaboration with scientists from other countries and their citation factor is 7.8% per publication.
Other Polish universities that were recognized in the Humanities category include Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.
The ELSEVIER Research Impact Leaders Award recognizes higher education institutions whose latest scientific publications have had the greatest visibility impact globally. The award promotes high quality research projects and their internationalization.
The impact is measured by the number of publications in prestigious scientific journals, the contribution of international collaborators in the publications and the number of citations in a given discipline.
The aim of the ELSEVIER Research Impact Leaders Award, which is part of a global Elsevier initiative and was given for the first time in 2016, is the promotion of research and development of science. The award recognizes outstanding research institutions that have the largest impact on research and improve the visibility of Polish science around the world.
