About the Conference
The Green Digital Accessibility (GDA) international conference is a leading international forum exploring the intersection of media accessibility and environmental sustainability. Launched in 2021 at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, the conference has earned recognition as a hub for innovative ideas and solutions in the field.
As digital media accessibility advances in response to European and national regulations, concerns about its environmental impact are growing. Accessibility technologies often increase the media sector’s carbon footprint, raising critical questions for researchers, engineers, and media professionals. GDA was created to address this challenge, fostering cross-sector dialogue and collaboration.
The conference provides a platform for exchanging ideas, research findings, and experiences on topics such as the environmental costs of accessibility technologies, sustainable UX and HCI, methodological approaches to assessing the environmental impact of digital media, models of environmentally responsive media education, and social issues related to equal and climate-sustainable access to culture.
The 4th edition of the GDA conference will be hosted by SWPS University in Warsaw. This year, it will focus on the challenges of building a sustainable and inclusive digital future. The event is open to anyone interested, at any career stage.
