The goal of the project is to prepare young people (age 14-19) for active participation in their community, both at the local and national level. To achieve the goal, SWPS University in collaboration with the Center for Citizenship Education, have develop and implement a comprehensive educational project aimed at engaging young people in civic initiatives. The program is based on three pillars: participation in elections, engagement in school and local community initiatives, and improving debating skills.
The first three editions of the program were closely linked with the election calendar. Students carried out information campaigns, which aimed to encourage people to vote in elections. They also organized school elections.
As of 2021, project participants have been learning to plan and implement projects benefiting their local communities. To gain skills required for these projects, students attend workshops, webinars and complete an e-learning course.
Thanks to these projects, young people can consolidate their newly acquired knowledge on politics, democratic procedures, civic and pro-social attitudes. Students also acquire practical skills, such as project management.
