Dr. Jacobason-Cielecka is a design curator and critic. She is active in several design-related fields. As a curator, she develops and organizes exhibitions and art programs. As a journalist and design critic, she writes about design, comments on various phenomena, and observes trends. She is an avid promoter of young designers from Poland and other countries around the world. She is interested in design as a discipline striding both culture and economy. Additionally, she is a co-author of a unique design program at SWPS University’s School of Form.
Dr. Jacobson-Cielecka curated numerous exhibitions of Polish design, which were presented in Europe and Asia, including “Unpolished”, “Polished Up”, “Moderna”, “Polska Folk”, “Materia Prima”, and “Common Roots: Design Map of Central Europe”, which was commissioned by the Design Museum Holon in Israel. She was also responsible for exhibitions at MAKK – a museum of applied art in Cologne, Germany; the Museum of Applied Arts in Budapest, Hungary; the Design Museum in Helsinki, Finland; and the Museum of Modern Art in Bucharest, Romania.
In 2000, Dr. Jacobson-Cielecka introduced the Elle Decoration magazine on the Polish market and was its Editor in Chief for seven years. From 2008 to 2012, she was the Artistic Director of the Łódź Design Festival. She is a member of program committees and juries of many Polish and international festivals, such as Gdynia Design Days and Designblok as well as a member of advisory bodies of various institutions, including the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, the National Museum in Warsaw, and the Regional Museum in Stalowa Wola.
She was named the 2007 Editor in Chief of Media i Marketing magazine and she is a recipient of the 2012 Animator award granted by the Design Alive magazine.
At School of Form she teaches interior design and color theory.
