Professor Eliza Borkowska is a literary scholar specializing in British literature, particularly English Romantic poetry.
She is the author of But He Talked of the Temple of Man’s Body: Blake’s Revelation Un-Locked (CSP, 2009), two simultaneously published monographs devoted to William Wordsworth’s discourses on God—The Presence of God in the Works of William Wordsworth and The Absent God in the Works of William Wordsworth (Routledge, 2021) — as well as numerous articles on English Romanticism published by leading presses (Routledge, Bloomsbury) and in major academic journals such as Romanticism, European Romantic Review, and Blake/An Illustrated Quarterly.
For many years, she has been working (together with Rafał Stankiewicz) on the first complete Polish translation of Jerusalem, William Blake’s greatest prophetic book. As of 2025, she serves as the Principal Investigator for the "Polish Blake" project.
Beyond her scholarly work, she worked as a screenwriter and translator. Her screenwriting credits include co-authoring episodes of the popular Polish television series Na Wspólnej and several feature films. As a translator, she has collaborated with the Jewish Historical Institute, as well as with numerous artists, film directors, and producers.
At SWPS University, she delivers lectures and teaches classes in the history of British literature, courses in narratology and poetics. Additionally, she supervises undergraduate and Master’s seminars in literary studies.
