A group of graphic design students and graduates from SWPS University in Wrocław is presenting their work at an international student photography exhibition in Cape Town, South Africa. The showcase is part of the Cape Town Photography Festival, which runs through September 26, 2026.
Truth in photography
This year’s festival revolves around the theme of "Truth." Artists and curators are taking a closer look at how contemporary photography shapes our beliefs, impacts collective memory, and influences power dynamics.
The student exhibition, curated by Mars Hesseling, offers a compelling showcase of works by a new generation of artists from Poland, Japan, the UK, Iran, and South Africa, among others. For these emerging talents, it’s a major stepping stone as they launch their careers. Participating in an international event gives them a chance to gain fresh experience, get a behind-the-scenes look at how large-scale exhibitions come together, and build valuable connections with the global art scene and academic circles.
Meet the team
The SWPS University team includes recent graduates and graphic design students who just completed their first year: Kateryna Bondar, Michał Gliszczyński, Mikita Zhyhala, Nina Jędral, and Weronika Kaźmierczak. Professor Michał Jakubowicz is coordinating the initiative on behalf of the university.
Our students' photography is exhibited in three different venues: the Bindery Gallery at the Michaelis School of Fine Art, the ORMS School of Photography, and Index at OBZ Books.
