In late July 2026, the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies at SWPS University in Krakow welcomed faculty and students from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), Spain. Organized under the auspices of the European Reform University Alliance (ERUA), the seminar focused on analyzing intercultural consumer behavior and developing strategies to combat xenophobia.
Developing Intercultural Competencies
The intensive, weeklong program brought together Polish and Spanish students for collaborative project work, seminars, and practical analyses of contemporary social issues. Core topics included:
- Consumer behavior
- Social marketing
- Entrepreneurship
- Innovative approaches to countering discrimination and promoting social inclusion
By working in cross-cultural teams, participants deepened their analytical capabilities, developed practical entrepreneurial skills, and enhanced their intercultural competence.

Cultural Engagement and Community Building
As Poland’s former capital, Krakow is celebrated for its well-preserved medieval architecture, bustling Main Market Square, and a rich multicultural heritage. To complement their academic work, students participated in guided visits to the National Museum in Krakow and the Krzysztofory Palace (a branch of the Museum of Krakow).
Overall, the seminar offered a dynamic platform for cross-cultural exchange and networking. The collaborative projects confirmed that international academic partnerships build future-ready competencies, foster open-mindedness, and advance meaningful intercultural dialogue.
