Dr Supratik Mondal is a cognitive psychologist whose research focuses on adaptive decision-making, individual differences, numeracy, and chess expertise. His work aims to support decision-makers (particularly those with lower statistical proficiency) in making better-informed choices. He is also interested in understanding the cognitive mechanisms that distinguish expert chess players from beginners.
Dr. Mondal serves as Principal Investigator on the project “Patience Bears Fruit: The Influence of Enhanced Deliberation on Performance for Less Numerate Individuals”, funded by the National Science Center (NCN). In addition, he is collaborating in the development of the “Parking Task”, a novel cognitive tool designed to measure adaptive decision-making. This project is supported by Poland’s Ministry of Education and Science to strengthen the educational and research capacity of the Institute of Psychology at SWPS University.
Dr. Mondal has published articles in scientific journals such as Decision, Thinking and Reasoning, and the Journal of Economic Psychology.
At SWPS University, Dr. Mondal teaches a range of courses, including Consumer Insight and Decision-Making, Psychology of Individual Differences, Methodology and Statistics, Introduction to Psychology: History and Contemporary Issues, Critical Analysis of Psychological Articles, and Group Research Project.
