The European Reform University Alliance (ERUA) is pleased to announce the launch of a new joint degree Master’s program: PATHS Forced Migration: Europe in a Global Context. Developed in response to escalating global displacement driven by geopolitical instability, environmental crises, and socio-economic factors, the program addresses the urgent and complex challenges of forced migration. Students enrolled in the program will have the unique opportunity to study at three different European universities, earning a globally recognized joint diploma. The program is accredited under the European Approach for Quality Assurance of Joint Programmes, with the accreditation decision published in the Database of External Quality Assurance Results (DEQAR).
About the Program
The curriculum is designed to equip future professionals with the critical knowledge and skills necessary to understand and effectively address these multifaceted issues. By integrating interdisciplinary and intercultural perspectives into a cohesive framework, PATHS combines structured academic mobility and research opportunities with close collaboration alongside local, national, and international organizations, thereby enhancing students' professional competencies and adaptability.
Grounded in sociology, this interdisciplinary program incorporates insights from political science, law, pedagogy, and psychology to offer a comprehensive understanding of migratory phenomena. In addition to establishing a rigorous theoretical foundation, the program prioritizes extensive practical experience. During the second semester, alongside mandatory joint coursework, students will complete an internship at an organization of their choice, allowing them to apply academic insights directly to professional settings.
Application Deadline: The deadline to submit applications for the upcoming intake is July 31, 2026.
Specialized Study Paths
The program features three distinct study paths. Depending on their chosen track, students will rotate through three universities across three different countries:
- EU Border Regimes: European University Viadrina (Germany) — SWPS University (Poland) — University of the Aegean (Greece)
- Inclusion of Children and Minors: University of Paris 8 (France) — SWPS University (Poland) — University of Macerata (Italy)
