About the program

SWPS University was the first higher education institution in Poland to offering the User Experience Design / Product Design program, as early as 2010. Our UX community in the region includes 80 experts and close to 3,000 graduates.

The program offers classes not only in user experience and product design, but also in related disciplines, such as psychology, visual design, and service design. Throughout the course of study, students developing their products and learn about good practices, rules of design, and limitations that UX designers face in their work. Learning extends beyond the classroom as students continue working on their prototypes in project teams, in their own time.

The program is addressed to individuals who embark on the design journey in the filed of digital products or who have already gained some design experience and would like to expand and organize their knowledge and skills.

For whom?

The program is addressed to individuals who embark on the design journey or who already have some experience in researching and designing digital solutions.

It is a program for people who are looking for practical approach to teaching and want to learn about best practices, rules and limitations that designers of digital products and services face. We also provide our students with theoretical background in the following areas:

  • service design,
  • user research,
  • visual design,
  • psychology.

Why should you enroll?

  1. As the first university in Poland, we launched the User Experience / Product Design program in 2010.
  2. Our UX community in the region includes 80 experts and close to 3,000 graduates.
  3. We teach by doing – during workshops you work in project teams and gain practical skills.
  4. We use online applications and solutions conducive to communication and collaborations, such as: Basecamp, G Suite, Figma, and Mural.

Program details

Modules

Research

(encompassing creating and organizing project teams, discussing specifics and methods of UX research, preparing desk and user research, practicing interview techniques, and creating personas)

Strategy

(focusing on product definition and strategy, workshopping using methods such as customer journey mapping and value proposition mapping)

Model

(encompassing theory of information architecture, crafting user scenarios and user flows, learning about usability and accessibility best practices, discussing and workshopping design artifacts)

Prototype

(learning design tools, preparing product prototypes, learning about the specificity of designing for different devices and contexts, discussing cooperation with the broader project team)

Test

(learning about qualitative and quantitative methods of assessing a product's success, preparing and conducting usability tests, and using their results to improve the product)

The program consists of 5 thematic modules which reflect 5 phases of the UX Design and Product Design processes.

Class schedule

It is a 2-semester program (approx. 16 meetings). 190 hours of classes, and several dozen hours of meetings with mentors and experts. The meetings take place every 2-3 weeks, on weekends.

Classes are in the format of seminars, workshops, and honing practical skills in computer labs. Learning extends beyond the classroom as students continue working on their prototypes in project teams, in their own time.

Between classes, each group is mentored by an assigned specialist. Additionally, at every phase, teams collaborate with experts, who evaluate their projects and provide feedback.

The program is offered in an online format.

The Center for Professional Education reserves the right to make necessary changes concerning the program, the teaching staff, and the mode of class delivery, should important reasons arise.

To complete the program you must:

  • Attend classes, at least 80% of the time
  • Complete all five project phases, which are evaluated by the assigned expert
  • Pass an exam
  • Develop a final prototype and present it, with your project team, in front of an expert committee

Components of your final grade on the diploma include:

  • the prototype assessment
  • presentation assessment
  • your mentor’s evaluation.
  • Certificate

    A certificate (świadectwo ukończenia studiów podyplomowych) confirming the completion of a graduate certificate program at SWPS University.

Our Lecturers

The program was created by Hubert Anyżewski, who together with the local heads of the program, including Barbara Rogoś-Turek, Tomasz Skórski, Adam Michalski, and Maciej Płonka, continues to expand it in four locations, and have also launched the program in English.

Admissions

Application step by step

Eligible candidates are admitted on the first come, first served basis. Please note that the completion of the online Application Form is just the first step in the Application Process and does not signify your admission to the program. We reserve the right to schedule interviews with candidates.

In case of insufficient enrollment, SWPS University reserves the right to cancel the program.

To apply, you will need:

  • your scanned diploma (in a .pdf or .jpg file format)
  • CV, containing your professional experience to date.

While filling in the Application Form, you will be asked to upload a scan of your diploma and your CV, containing, your professional experience to date.

Please note!

  • Required file formats: .jpg or .pdf.
  • All scans must be of good quality, easily readable.

Pay the application fee

Once you are admitted to the program, you must pay the application fee and the tuition fee. Upload your payment confirmations to the Application Form. You must pay the application fee via the PayU platform, while completing the Application Form.

Please note!

  • You must upload confirmations of your application fee payment and the tuition fee payment to the Application Form.
  • Students and graduates of SWPS University are exempt from paying the application fee.

We will notify you by e-mail, sent to the address provided in your application, about the status of your application. We will send you a separate e-mail with the admission decision. The information concerning classes will be e-mailed to you seven (7) days before the first weekend meeting.

Tuition

Application Fee 300 PLN or EUR 100.

Students and graduates of SWPS University are exempt from the application fee.

Candidates should pay the tuition fee to their individual accounts. Account numbers are provided on the Virtual University Platform. First instalment of the tuition fee payment should be paid by October 5th, for the cohort that begins classes in the fall, and by March 5th, for the cohort that begins classes in spring.

We will e-mail you class-related information seven (7) days prior to the first weekend meeting. Please check your student e-mail account and the e-mail account you provided in the Application Form.
