Natalia Frankowska, Ph.D., is a social psychologist, who specializes in social cognition, psychoacoustics, and evolutionary psychology. She researches the impact of spatial perimeters on the interpretation of verbal communication. She is also interested in the strategies employed by pregnant women to avoid pathogens, female sexual strategies, and the role of ovulation in female preferences and cognition.
Dr. Frankowska was a research fellow at the University of California in San Diego, USA. She is a member of the Polish Society of Social Psychology (PSPS), the European Association of Social Psychology, the Association of Psychological Science, and the Polish Society for Human and Evolution Studies (PTNCE).
Recently, she has been working on several research projects in collaboration with the Center of Research on Cognition and Behavior as well as the Peripheral Psychophysiology Laboratory at SWPS University.
Some of her previous research projects, carried out in collaboration with other researchers from SWPS University, include: “Social distancing as a strategy employed by pregnant women during the first trimester – a mitigating role of sensitivity to aversion”, in collaboration with Aleksandra Szymków-Studziarska, Ph.D. / Associate Professor; “When do women favor kind and wise men over strong ones (and vice versa)? Filling the gap between social cognition and evolutionary psychology”, conducted in collaboration with Aleksandra Szymków-Studziarska, Ph.D./Associate Professor; “Trust as social moderator of the Rear Negativity Effect”, in collaboration with Michał Parzuchowski, Ph.D. / Associate Professor, and “The tendency to negatively assess sounds coming from beyond peripheral vision – physiological correlates of stimuli that originate in different spatial localization”, in collaboration with Michał Olszanowski, Ph.D. / Associate Professor. She also research “The impact of Covid-19 on Nutritional Behavior, Health and Well-Being of University Staff”, in cooperation with Professor Fatameh Rabiee-Khanem from Birmingham City University.
At SWPS University, she teaches classes in social psychology, social cognition, and personality psychology.
