Profile

Weronika Trzemielewska, Ph.D., specializes in social psychology. She is particularly interested in correlations between mimicry and social cognition.

Her thesis advisor was Professor Bogdan Wojciszke. Under his guidance, she obtained a doctoral degree in social sciences, in the discipline of psychology.

Dr. Trzmielewska won the Jolanta and Leszek Czarnecki “Wspieramy uzdolnionych” (We support talented researchers) scholarship (2016/2017). She was also a beneficiary of the annual scholarship for the best graduate and doctoral students. Several times she found herself among the top-rated lecturers in annual assessments carried out at SWPS University’s Faculty of Psychology and Law in Poznań.

She co-authored, with Joanna Szen-Ziemiańska, Ph.D., a book U progu akademii. Wyzwania na drodze do doktoratu i kariery naukowej w naukach społecznych (i nie tylko) (At the Threshold of Academia. Challenges on the Way to a Doctoral Degree and a Research Career in Social Sciences (and Other Disciplines)”. The book has been written in response to actual problems students face while embarking on research careers. The book includes opinions of renowned experts in the field of psychology, such as Professor Elliot Aronson and Professor Robert Sternberg.

Together with a team of researchers from Radbound University, in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, Dr. Trzmielewska researched mimicry, using the Virtual Reality technology. She has also been researching mimicry and its effects on social relations together with a team of researchers from Leuphana University Lüneburg in Germany, where she also teaches study design, as a guest lecturer. Furthermore, in collaboration with researchers from Australia, she investigates the role of physical traits and personality in the context of romantic relationships.

Dr. Trzemielewska is a member of the Polish Society of Social Psychology (PSPS) and the European Association of Social Psychology (EASP).

She is keen on promoting research careers among talented students, therefore she organizes numerous university events, research projects, practicums, and meetings to encourage young people to embark to the research path.

At SWPS University, she teaches classes in social psychology, cross-cultural psychology, and psychology of mimicry in the social and professional contexts. She also teaches psychology to students of law.
