Prof. Adam Szpaderski Appointed Adviser for Strategic Development of NOSPR

Expertise of our researchers finds applications in numerous areas of life. We are pleased to announce that Professor Adam Szpaderski, Head of the Center for Research on the Economics of Memorial Sites at SWPS University has been appointed Adviser for Strategic Development of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR).

Adviser for Strategic Development

The Adviser for Strategic Development of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra provides expertise in the area of strategic development, proposes improvements to the management processes, and provides expert opinion on managing NOSPR.

The Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice is one of the most acclaimed institutions of its kind in Europe and around the world. Entrusting me with the position of the Adviser for the Strategic Development of NOSPR is an honor and a confirmation of my expertize, but more importantly it shows the universal significance of the strategic management tools that we have developed at the Center for Research on the Economics of Memorial Sites at SWPS University, and it provides an opportunity to apply and broaden our research, in the service of NOSPR.

Associate Professor Adam Szpaderski

Professor Szpaderski utilizes knowledge of management studies and related sciences to create the economics of museums and memorial sites. This discipline deals with the strategy and parametrization of museums and memorial sites, efficacy assessment of museums and other cultural institutions, effective management of education about the Holocaust and related crimes, as well as finances and macroeconomics of museums and memorial sites. The process involves research and promotion of management and commemoration standards of such organizations, comparative analysis of museum operational models around the world as well as collaboration with Polish and international institutions, directors, fundraisers, donors, and curators.

 

Professor Szpaderski is a member of many scientific associations devoted to economics, management and culture. He is also a recipient of numerous awards and author of projects and publications on economics and management. As the result of his research, he has been recently appointed to several positions, including Chairman of the Council of the Gross-Rosen Museum in Rogoźnica, Chief Consultant for Strategy and Education Management at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in Oświęcim, and Education Strategy Advisor to the Stutthof Museum in Sztutowo. He is also a member of the jury in the prestigious Sybilla competition, which recognizes the best museums and exhibitions in Poland.

Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR)

The Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1935 in Warsaw by Grzegorz Fitelberg, who led it until the outbreak of the Second World War. In 1945, the Orchestra was revived in Katowice by Witold Rowicki. Subsequently, the Orchestra was headed by Grzegorz Fitelberg (again), Jan Krenz, Bohdan Wodiczko, Kazimierz Kord, Tadeusz Strugała, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Stanisław Wisłocki, Jacek Kaspszyk, Antoni Wit, Gabriel Chmura, Joanna Wnuk-Nazarowa, Alexander Liebreich, and Ewa Bogusz-Moore. Since September 2019, the post of the Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of NOSPR has been held by meastro Lawrence Foster.

Apart from making archive recordings for the Polish Radio, the Orchestra has recorded over 200 CDs, which have been recognized with numerous awards, such as Diapason d’Or, Grand Prix du Disque, and International Classical Music Awards.

NOSPR actively promotes Polish music by organizing various music festivals and events devoted to renowned Polish composers.

Since April 2019, NOSPR has been a member of ECHO, the European Concert Hall Organization that promotes joint initiatives and professional exchange.
