Profile

Magdalena Formanowicz, Ph.D., researches linguistic markers of psychological and social phenomena, in particular agency. She is also interested in the role of agency in intergroup relations and dehumanization. She has gained extensive experience in text analysis of large data sets as well as psycholinguistic and social experiments, which researched the role of language in marking psychological processes.

She was awarded scholarships by the Swiss–Polish Cooperation Programme and by the Swiss government. She was a post-doc fellow at the University of Bern in Switzerland and a research fellow at the University of Surrey in Great Britain.

She is the Principal Investigator in two research projects funded by the National Research Center, including “The Role of Linguistic Markers of Agency in Mobilizing Collective Action” and “The Role of Agency and Morality in Dehumanization – integrated approach”.
