HumanTech Meetings2nd Edition

social psychologist, Head of the HumanTech Center for Social and Technological Innovation
The goal of the HumanTech Meetings (HTM), carried out by SWPS University’s HumanTech Center, is to popularize the latest knowledge bridging the disciplines of technology and social sciences.
During the meetings scientists and experts from around the world, specializing in various disciplines, share their knowledge, experience, and the latest research findings and applications of new technologies in different areas of life. This allows for a multidisciplinary approach to issues concerning the impact of rapidly developing new technologies on people’s lives.
HTM is a unique project that brings together not only scientists from two different disciplines, such as social sciences and computer and information sciences, but it also links academia and research with business and industry. This initiative is like no other at any university in Poland and abroad.
Two editions of the project
The first edition of the HumanTech Meetings (2019-2021) proved to be a huge success. The project comprised 14 meetings that, in total, gathered close to 3.5 thousand participants and 70 presenter, including speakers from several countries, from the best universities, such as Stanford University, the University of California, the American University, Vrije Universiteit, the University of Canterbury, and Instituto Italiano di Technologia as well as guests representing some of the technology giants, such as Microsoft, Facebook, Google, and IBM..
In 2021, the project was granted an additional PLN 250,000 by the Ministry of Education and Science (MEiN), as part of the funding scheme “Społeczna odpowiedzialność nauki – Popularyzacja nauki i promocja sportu” (Social responsibility of science – Popularization of science and sport), (project no. SONP/SN/514650/2021), project duration: 2022-2023.
Thematic scope and meeting format
Each HumanTech Meetin includes two lectures, one delivered by a speaker from Poland and one presented by a guest from another country. The 45-minute lectures are followed by a 60-minute panel discussions, where panelists represent different approaches to innovation and technology.
The thematic scope includes topics such as: artificial intelligence, robotics, technological innovations in education, Internet of Things (IoT), Virtual Reality (VR), new technologies in media, new technologies in medicine, new technologies and ecology, and jobs of the future.
For the current edition we have planned 14 online meetings and two large face-to-face events (HumanTech Summit, at the end of 2022 and 2023). The online meetings take place on Mondays, 17:15-20:00 CET (UTC+1) (CEST (UTC+2) – during daylight saving time), once a month on average. All meetings are streamed live online, recorded, and subsequently made available on YouTube.
Who should attend
The meetings are open to all interested parties. Our target audience includes not only the community of SWPS University (academics, students from all five campuses and doctoral students), but also students and employees of other universities (including technical universities) as well as general audience such as entrepreneurs, innovators, startuppers, investors, technology enthusiasts, science journalists, and anyone interested in the topics discussed during HTM meetings.
