Experience a live performance by one of Poland’s most original drummers. Qba Janicki brings his Emotional Mechanics project to SWPS University in Warsaw, blending percussion with electronics.
About the concert
Emotional Mechanics is the third solo project by Qba Janicki, an artist rooted in the legendary Bydgoszcz club Mózg – the main center of Polish yass (a Polish style of avant-garde jazz) in the 1990s
Janicki constructs his sound in a unique way. To do this, he uses a drum kit, analog electronics, and a custom-built instrument — the Soundboard III, an electroacoustic mechanized modular synthesizer. His work bridges the gap between improvisation, electronic music, and sound art.
The result is an intense, conceptual, yet lyrical narrative. This performance is for anyone seeking sincerity and fresh experiences in music.
The concert will be followed by an after talk (held in Polish) about the process of building the soundboard. Qba Janicki and Dr. Kamil Kusy—a visual artist and co-creator of the instrument—will discuss their collaboration and the work behind developing this custom-built synthesizer.
Admission is free, but space is limited. Registration is required.
