Lecture: Xi Jinping Administration’s Foreign Policy

Lecture: Xi Jinping Administration’s Foreign Policy

Department of Asian Studies is pleased to invite all interested parties to a lecture on "Xi Jinping Administration’s Foreign Policy on the Ukraine War and Taiwan Strait" presented by Professor Shin Kawashima, a renowned Japanese expert on China and its foreign relations.

November 22, 2022
16:00–17:30
Warsaw (on-site event)

About the lecture

Since the Russian attack on Ukraine in February this year, the behavior of Chinese officials has been quite puzzling to many. Western governments, international organizations, as well as the international press have pondered over the Chinese stance on Russia. Xi Jinping and his administration have focused on calling for peace talks, accusing USA and NATO of provoking Russia, and abstaining in crucial UN Security Council votings regarding Russia. In response, the West started widely discussing the Taiwan analogy, calling it a potential victim of China’s Russia-like aggression.

Professor Shin Kawashima, a renowned Japanese expert on China and its foreign relations, is going to discuss China’s foreign policy in the year of the 20th National Congress of the Party that assigned a third unprecedented decade of power to its leader Xi Jinping.

The lecture will be held in English.
