About the Times Higher Education Young University Rankings
The Times Higher Education Young University Rankings, like the World University Rankings, use a rigorous methodology to assess universities. However, the weightings are recalibrated to align with the missions of young universities, ensuring a fair and accurate representation of their performance.
The 2024 edition of the rankings introduces significant updates to the original methodology, in line with the changes made to the World University Rankings methodology last year. There are now 18 performance indicators, up from 13, providing a more comprehensive and balanced comparison.
The performance indicators are grouped into following five areas:
- research quality (citation impact, research strength, excellence, and influence)
- teaching (the learning environment)
- research environment (research reputation, income, and productivity)
- international outlook (international staff, students, and collaboration)
- industry (industry income and patents)
