Psychologists from SWPS University in Poznań offer assistance to those who have been forced to leave Ukraine and found shelter in the city. They have formed roving teams that can reach people living in the area, and began their work on May 10th. The roving teams have been funded by the Mayor of Poznań.
Free psychological counseling for refugees
Children, teenagers and adults who fled war in Ukraine can seek help from psychologists speaking Ukrainian and Russian or groups of therapists and translators. Roving teams offer individual counseling, crisis intervention and psychoeducation at temporary homes of refugees.
The teams will also provide educational brochures on mental health, which are available in Ukrainian. Topics include:
- child traumatic stress
- caring for children who have experienced trauma
- coping strategies
- ways of communicating with people in crisis

SWPS University supports Ukrainian refugees
Our University provides psychological, financial and legal assistance to the Ukrainian community in a number of forms, including:

- A fundraiser. In March, we raised EUR 13,491 (PLN 62,764) for scholarships for our Ukrainian students and EUR 1,376 (PLN 6,400) for our Ukrainian employees.
- Free access to online English language courses for our Ukrainian students and their families.
- A charity auction of art works by SWPS University’s School of Form students. Money from the auction has been donated to cover scholarships for Ukrainian students.
- A mini visual dictionary of basic terms in various languages for Ukrainian refugees designed by first-year students of our School of Form.
- Free counseling for refugees from Ukraine offered by SWPS University Clinic of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy.
- Free legal counseling provided by our Student Legal Services.
- A Visiting Scholars program for academic staff and doctoral students from Ukraine.
- A therapeutic children’s book created by the staff and students of our Faculty of Psychology in Wrocław.
- Webinars and articles with practical advice for Ukrainians and Poles (in Polish).
