ESA University Network Program: Collaboration with EU agencies
At SWPS University, we consider openness as one of our core values. This involves emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches, international collaboration, and strong connections with the community. Extending beyond traditional academic boundaries, we foster partnerships with businesses, public institutions, and NGOs.
Recently, SWPS University has joined the ESA University Network Program. The partnership was established by ESAs, including the European Banking Authority (EBA), the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), and the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA).
This initiative, launched earlier this year, brings together 40 universities from 14 European countries, including two from Poland. SWPS University earned admission due to the high evaluation of our research and teaching activities, particularly in the fields of management studies, sociology, political science and public administration, behavioral sciences, and law.
During my time in Germany, I engaged in the groundwork for the EIOPA and later led its Governance Department. This experience reinforced my belief that public endeavors should be rooted in scientific research and the ongoing transfer of knowledge to the next generation. When the ESA University Network Program was established, promoting academic collaboration through formal agreements, I immediately knew that SWPS University should be a part of it. The development strategies of USWPS and the ESAs share a goal of enhancing the quality of life. Our partnership on educational and research initiatives, particularly in the fields of management and financial markets law, will prove mutually beneficial.

Coordinator of collaboration with the ESAs, Head of the Department of Management
Membership in the ESA University Network Program opens up new opportunities for our students, offering them direct access to job and traineeship offers provided by ESAs. Additionally, experts from these agencies will actively contribute to our academic environment by delivering guest lectures, participating in study visits, and providing valuable feedback on our study programs. This collaboration enhances the quality of our study offerings by better aligning them with market needs and increases their attractiveness by adding a broader international perspective.
About the European System of Financial Supervision
The European System of Financial Supervision aims to ensure the consistent implementation of EU regulations in the financial sector while preserving market stability, protecting consumers, and preventing crises.
The ESAs, which play a vital role in this system, include:
- European Banking Authority, which oversees the banking sector.
- European Securities and Markets Authority, which is responsible for operating stock exchanges and trading financial instruments, as well as protecting investors.
- European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority, which supervises the insurance and pension sectors.
The ESAs advise other EU bodies in the legislative process, develop regulatory standards, coordinate the work of national supervisory authorities in member states, monitor the functioning of the financial market in Europe, and maintain relations with third countries
