EASP Summer School
Summer School has been co-organized by the European Association of Social Psychology and its local partner in one of the European countries since 1967. This year the privilege fell to SWPS University’s Faculty of Psychology in Wrocław.
During two weeks of intensive activities, the participants will not only deepen their knowledge of social psychology but will also work closely with senior researchers from around the world. Furthermore, the graduate students will have an opportunity to establish a network of contacts throughout Europe, which may become beneficial when they become full-time academics.
The year 2022 will mark the second time the summer school will take place in Poland. The first time was in 1997 in Serock, near Warsaw.
Summer School workshop groups
The graduate students will be divided into five groups organized around research themes and supervised by a tutor whose own research specialization falls within that theme.
We have planned the following main workshops:
- Identity and politics – will discuss how social identities in their different forms link to political beliefs, decisions and behaviors.
- Intergroup relations – will deal with factors that shape intergroup relations, such as language and experiences of intergroup contact or conflict.
- Meanings in life – will discuss how people create, experience, maintain, and protect a sense of meaning in life.
- Moral judgment and behavior – will look closely at the dilemma between honesty and conflicting motives and contextual factors related to (dis)honest behavior.
- Social cognition – will focus on how people interpret themselves and their social worlds.
Our EASP Summer School is not just about workshops. The participants will also have an opportunity to attend guest lectures by acclaimed researchers specializing in social psychology.
In addition, as a break from their research work, they will enjoy a trip to the Live Museum of Pottery in Bolesławiec.
The invited scholars include: Aleksandra Cichocka from the University of Kent, UK, Aleksandra Cisłak-Wójcik from SWPS University, Michał Bilewicz from the University of Warsaw, Sylvie Graf from the Institute of Psychology, Czech Academy of Sciences, Samantha J.
