Supporting Ukraine in rebuilding a competent workforce
Designing public policies that meet social needs requires qualified personnel. Experts from SWPS University’s Faculty of Social Sciences in Warsaw are offering specialized education in this field.
Leveraging their unique experience and achievements, we are collaborating with the Empiria and Knowledge Foundation and Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego to implement a brand-new academic program, Public Management and Policy Design. On May 9, a group of students from the Kyiv School of Economics, along with Ukrainian public administration and finance sector, will begin the two-semester course.
Our primary goal is to empower Ukrainian both public and private sector personnel with the necessary competencies to drive the modernization of their country. In doing so, we also aim to foster stronger Polish-Ukrainian relations. In the future, we plan to incorporate this course into our regular curriculum.
I eagerly anticipate meeting the participants of the Public Management and Policy Design program. I look forward to sharing the knowledge I acquired during Poland's accession to the European Union and the experience I gained during a decade of project management in public policies shaped by EU financial agencies. Effective and standards-based management of the public sphere, enabling the creation of efficient models and sectoral regulations, is essential for public administration and private companies in Ukraine, Poland, and, more broadly, in our part of Europe. The academic staff centered around the Faculty of Social Sciences in Warsaw has unique research and teaching competencies. This allows us to look optimistically toward our goal: establishing an innovative Central and Eastern European academic hub at SWPS University, which will focus on managing the processes of designing and evaluating public policies. The launch of the Public Management and Policy Design program, along with the trust placed in us by our partners and participants, represents a significant step towards this direction.

Public Management and Policy Design
The Public Management and Policy Design program combines political science, management and quality studies, and psychology. We have augmented theory with practical knowledge and a business-oriented perspective, ensuring that the course is tailored to meet current market demands. Our lecturers have experience in conducting research and implementing solutions that significantly impact society.
Graduates of the program will be equipped to pursue positions in European and national public administration, socially responsible business organizations, as well as research institutes, consulting firms, and think tanks collaborating with governments and the third sector.
