Celebrating Polish National Independence Day in Monaco
The Polish National Independence Day celebrations in Monaco included an economic conference focused on the impact of liberty on the conditions for economic growth (L'impact de la Liberté sur les conditions de croissance économique en Pologne et dans le Monde). The event featured Magdalena Kaczkowska-Serafińska, Ph.D., a social sciences researcher from the Faculty of Social Sciences at SWPS University, and Marina Puricelli, Ph.D., a management specialist from SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan, who shared their insights. They were invited by the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in the Principality of Monaco. In his invitation, the Consul emphasized the values central to the occasion, including community, peace, cooperation, and respect for human rights.
The freedom of Poland is the result of the efforts of many generations of Poles. Since the third partition of Poland in 1795, Poles have remained faithful to their cultural heritage, traditions, language, and religion, constantly honoring the memory of their homeland. Poland's development in the present and future is the result of the efforts of many generations of Poles who have placed their trust in the potential of their country. Józef Piłsudski and six other politicians are the statesmen and founding fathers of independent Poland. Although they came from different political backgrounds, they had one common goal: to rebuild the country together with the Polish people. It is an honor and a great responsibility for me to deal with the affairs of the Republic of Poland and its people abroad. I know how much Polish communities contribute to preserving their identity, commemorating important national anniversaries and cultivating the memory of their heroes. The Polish National Independence Day is not only a reference to history, but also a time for reflection, for assessing current challenges facing the community, and for looking into the future.

SWPS University researcher discusses Poland’s economic transformation
At the conference, Magdalena Kaczkowska-Serafińska, Ph.D., delivered a presentation on Poland’s economic transformation and the dynamic growth of its entrepreneurial landscape after joining the EU in 2004. Nearly all of Poland’s approximately 2 million businesses are micro, small, or medium-sized enterprises. Our researcher noted that the Polish SME sector has consistently experienced employment growth, supported by stable macroeconomic policies within Poland and the European community. She also addressed the challenges Polish enterprises face, such as expanding their export potential.
Highlighting the benefits of European integration, Magdalena Kaczkowska-Serafińska, Ph.D., remarked that Polish entrepreneurs could set an example for their counterparts in other countries when it comes to international cooperation and leveraging foreign market opportunities.
The conference provided an excellent networking opportunity for specialists in fields such as management, public policy, economics, environmental protection, and culture, from both Poland and Monaco.
