Society for the Advancement of Behavioral Economics
In the beginning of January, Agata Gąsiorowska, Ph.D. / Associate Professor at SWPS University’s Faculty of Psychology in Wrocław and a member of our Center for Research in Economic Behavior, was elected to sit on the board of the Society for the Advancement of Behavioral Economics (SABE) for a four-year term (2022-2026).
SABE, founded in 1982, is an international community of scholars committed to developing behavioral economics. Its members hail from over 40 countries across the world. They all employ a multidisciplinary approach to the study of economic choice and explore how insights from other disciplines, such as psychology, sociology, anthropology, neuroscience, history, political science and biology, can enrich our understanding of economic behavior.
Professor Agata Gąsiorowska — an expert on economic psychology
Agata Gąsiorowska, Ph.D. / Associate Professor, is a psychologist. She studies various aspects of consumer behavior, including the psychological value of money and impulse buying. Her research interests include usage of money, other than currency for purchasing goods and services, and the influence of money on human behavior. She also studies individual differences in attitudes towards money.
In 2014, she published a book entitled Psychologiczne znaczenie pieniędzy (Psychological Meaning of Money). She also authored numerous articles published in national and international journals.
Recently, she received a grant of over EUR 140K from the National Science Centre (NCN) to research the relation between the market mindset and attachment insecurity.
