SWPS University's School of Form partnered with Sizeer and Nike to introduce DesignAIR — an initiative that provided a transformative opportunity for young talents from disadvantaged backgrounds. Over the course of four months, guided by experienced mentors, 15 budding artists passionately honed their skills and worked on original projects. The effects of their endeavor were showcased at a unique exhibition, that took place during the Impact'23 international congress, a prestigious event held on May 10-11 in Poznań.
Let their talents shine!
Impact’23, held on May 10-11 in Poznań, is considered the leading economic and technological congress in Central and Eastern Europe. SWPS University was the event’s partner and presented a team of distinguished speakers who participated in several thematic sessions.
As part of the Design Manifesto track, congress attendees had the unique opportunity to visit an exhibition summarizing the DesignAIR program. This initiative, targeted at young creatives, was carried out by Sizeer, with support from Nike and SWPS University’s School of Form.
Renata Stanasiuk, Marketing Director at Marketing Investment Group, a member of JD Sports, and owner of the Sizeer brand, shared her perspective on the DesignAIR initiative in an interview exploring the synergy between business and academia:
While creating and executing DesignAIR, we shared a fundamental belief that every project begins with a person. And that this person deserves an opportunity. (...) Our recruitment campaign was targeted at young people from smaller towns. From a pool of 300 applications, we selected 15 participants who were invited to take part in a four-month workshop. Right from the start, we focused on the participants’ needs and that is why we divided them in groups and created thematic areas. Spotkania odbywały się na Uniwersytecie SWPS i trwały cztery miesiące. The workshop was conducted at SWPS University, in screen printing, ceramics, and photography studios. Participants created original designs aligned with the workshop’s theme: AIR. Throughout the workshop, they received invaluable guidance from School of Form lecturers and experts including Esther Ant, Zuzanna Stadnik, Dominik Cudny, Pawel Starc, Adam Biegala, Jagoda Harton, and Sylwia Hull-Wosiek.
