SWPS University in Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2023
SWPS University has been ranked 1st among 15 Polish universities that offer study programs in social sciences, which have qualified for THE ranking. Overall, SWPS University is the only university in Poland that placed between 501 and 600, among over 940 universities from around the world.
Times Higher Education ranking evaluates universities in five categories: Teaching, Research, Citations, International Outlook and Industry Income. SWPS University achieved the highest scores in the last three categories.
The award ceremony for Polish universities included in THE ranking was held on November 22, during the eighth edition of the international conference for leaders in university management – LUMEN 2022. The award was accepted by the Vice-Rector for Research, Prof. Aleksandra Cisłak-Wójcik.

Times Higher Education World University Rankings
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject: social sciences highlights the universities that are leading across the following disciplines: communication and media studies, data science, geography, politics and international studies (including development studies) and sociology. The number of universities under evaluation increases every year. This year’s ranking includes 941 universities, up from 870 last year.
Ranking by Subject uses the same trusted and rigorous performance indicators as the Times Higher Education World University Ranking, but the methodology has been recalibrated to suit the given discipline.
Furthermore, SWPS University has been ranked 4th among 34 Polish universities that have qualified for THE World University Ranking (up from 23 last year). Once again we excelled in the International Outlook category and secured 1st place in Poland. This category measures the proportion of international students, proportion of international staff and international collaboration, as well as the proportion of a university’s total relevant publications that have at least one international co-author.
Overall, SWPS University has once more placed between 1001 and 1200, among nearly 1,800 universities from 104 countries. This is the fourth time in a row that we were included in the World University Ranking.
