Understanding social dynamics in climate change adaptation
The CoDesign4Transitions project, led by Professor Karol Murlak, Head of the Institute of Design, delves into the social dynamics of climate change adaptation. Through small-scale prototyping and testing, the project aims to address conflicts related to issues like 30 km/h zones or selective waste collection.
A crucial aspect of CoDesign4Transitions is its focus on the practical application of results. The project will provide solutions to public institutions, businesses, and public good organizations committed to achieving carbon neutrality. Additionally, the project offers valuable development opportunities for Early Stage Researchers (ESRs), enriching their academic and practical expertise.
Cooperation with esteemed international universities
The collaboration involves a consortium of six universities, with 19 institutions from nine countries participating in research activities. Consortium members include:
- Aalborg University (Denmark)
- Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (Hungary)
- Politecnico di Milano (Italy)
- SWPS University (Poland)
- University of the Arts London (UK)
- Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium)
The grant will enable SWPS University to begin research collaboration with the best European design universities, such as the Politecnico di Milano and the Central Saint Martins College, which is a part of the University of the Arts in London. We are delighted with this success because this is the first grant of that magnitude at the Institute of Design, but we also know that this success would not be possible without cooperation with our partners – the team led by Professor Mikołaj Cześnik from the Institute of Social Sciences, and without the experience of SWPS University's Office for Research and the Office for Research Analytics.

About Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Doctoral Networks
Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions are the European Union's flagship funding program supporting doctoral education and postdoctoral training of researchers. MSCAs are among Europe's most competitive and prestigious research and innovation fellowships and comprise five types of schemes, including Doctoral Networks.
Doctoral Networks seek to establish collaborative partnerships among universities, research institutions, businesses, and other socio-economic actors across Europe and beyond to implement doctoral programs. These programs aim to boost the creativity, innovation capacities, and long-term employability of doctoral candidates from various research fields.
