World Creativity and Innovation Week: celebrating new ideas
World Creativity and Innovation Week (WCIW) is a global initiative that aims to inspire individuals to explore and unleash their creative potential. Established in 2001 by Marci Segal, a Canadian researcher with decades of experience in studying creativity, WCIW is celebrated worldwide from April 15, Leonardo Da Vinci's birthday, to April 21, World Creativity and Innovation Day.
This year, the enthusiasm for World Creativity and Innovation Week reached new heights, with over 160 countries joining in the celebration through more than 800 registered events, including workshops, seminars, exhibitions, fairs, and conferences. Several were hosted by the University of Malta's Edward de Bono Institute.
Workshop on sustainable development
As part of the WCIW celebrations, Katarzyna Szczepanik conducted a workshop on "Sustainable Development in Action" for students enrolled in the Diploma in Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship course offered by the Edward de Bono Institute. This engaging workshop utilized elements of art therapy and non-verbal communication to explore the concepts of sustainability, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and the Sustainable Development Goals (formulated in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly).
International cooperation
Katarzyna Szczepanik, a lecturer at SWPS University's Faculty of Psychology and Faculty of Social Sciences in Warsaw, traveled to Malta under the Erasmus + program. This endeavor allowed her to enhance her teaching skills, establish new connections, and exchange knowledge in an international research environment.
During her visit, she also initiated the process of establishing an academic exchange agreement between SWPS University and the University of Malta.
