SWPS University in Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2023
SWPS University has been ranked 3rd among 7 Polish universities that offer study programs in psychology, which have qualified for THE ranking. Overall, SWPS University has placed between 301 and 400, among 600 universities from around the world.
Times Higher Education ranking evaluates universities in five categories: Teaching, Research, Citations, Industry Income and International Outlook. SWPS University achieved the highest score in the last category and secured 1st place in Poland.
The award ceremony for Polish universities included in THE ranking was held on November 22, during the eighth edition of the international conference for leaders in university management – LUMEN 2022. The award was accepted by the Vice-Rector for Research, Prof. Aleksandra Cisłak-Wójcik.
Psychology has always been our strongest field of expertise, comprising more than 60 percent of our academic output in English, and securing the majority of our research grants.
Our Institute of Psychology includes 21 research centers, where over 100 experts, specializing in various disciplines of psychology, conduct advanced research on basic and complex cognitive processes. Thanks to the funding provided by the National Science Centre, the Foundation for Polish Science, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, and various European funds, our researchers run numerous studies in the disciplines of social psychology, economic psychology, clinical psychology, neuropsychology, and health psychology. The results of their research improve the quality of life and contribute to the economy and social policy.

Times Higher Education World University Rankings
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject: psychology highlights the universities that are leading across several areas of psychology, including educational, sport, business, animal and clinical psychology. The number of universities under evaluation increases every year. This year’s ranking includes 600 universities, up from 568 last year.
Ranking by Subject uses the same trusted and rigorous performance indicators as the Times Higher Education World University Ranking, but the methodology has been recalibrated to suit the given discipline.
Furthermore, SWPS University has been ranked 4th among 34 Polish universities that have qualified for THE World University Ranking (up from 23 last year). Once again we excelled in the International Outlook category and secured 1st place in Poland.
At SWPS University, we believe that international cooperation between universities, researchers and students from around the world is the foundation of modern education and sound science. Therefore, expanding learning opportunities for international students at SWPS University and supporting international engagement of our researchers are among the main goals of our international strategy.
We have partnered with over 90 international universities, including Sapienza Università di Roma, the biggest university in Europe, and Universidad Autónoma de Madrid with the best psychology program in Spain. Our agreements include academic exchanges of students and faculty, conducting joint curricula and research projects, as well as organizing international conferences.
Overall, SWPS University has once more placed between 1001 and 1200, among nearly 1,800 universities from 104 countries. This is the fourth time in a row that we were included in the World University Ranking.
